When splitting a PDF is useful
Sharing a single chapter or section
Sharing a single chapter or section from a longer document is one of the most practical uses. A company handbook, a multi-chapter report, or a combined reference guide often has sections meant for different people. Extracting only the relevant pages gives someone what they need without the whole file.
Separating accidentally merged pages
Separating pages that were accidentally merged is another common reason. If a scanner or document tool combined multiple separate documents into one file, the splitter lets you cut them back apart by specifying which page range belongs to each original document.
Breaking up long scans for archiving
Breaking up a large scanned document for archiving or filing works well too. Long scans — contracts, medical records, legal files — are sometimes easier to manage as individual page files. The split-into-pages mode creates one PDF per page and packages them in a ZIP ready to rename and organize.

Are my PDF files uploaded to a server?
No. All splitting and extraction happens entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
How do I specify which pages to extract?
Enter page numbers separated by commas, or ranges with a dash. For example: "1-3, 5, 8-10" extracts pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, and 10 into a single PDF.
What is the difference between Extract and Split modes?
Extract lets you pick specific pages and downloads them as one PDF. Split into individual pages creates one PDF per page and bundles them all into a ZIP archive.
What happens when I split a large PDF?
Each page becomes its own PDF file and all files are packaged into a single ZIP download named split-pages.zip. The only constraint is your device's available memory.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
PDFs that require a password to open cannot be processed. Remove the password protection first, then upload the file.
Can I extract non-consecutive pages into one PDF?
Yes. The page range field supports both commas for individual pages and dashes for ranges, and you can mix both in one expression. For example, "1, 4-7, 12" extracts pages 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 12 into a single PDF.
What happens to bookmarks and internal hyperlinks after splitting?
Internal bookmarks and hyperlinks that point to page numbers within the original document may break if the referenced page is not included in the extracted range. Hyperlinks to external URLs are preserved.
Is there a maximum page count for the input PDF?
There is no enforced limit. The practical constraint is your device's available memory. Large PDFs with many high-resolution images may take a few seconds to load and process.
